1. Seattle Seahawks – CenturyLink Field

The defending Super Bowl champions are the defending champions in large part because the road to the Super Bowl went through Seattle where CenturyLink Field is literally the loudest stadium in the world.

Seattle’s “12th man” broke the Chiefs record for the loudest stadium weeks after Kansas City broke the record Seattle established with a 136.6 decibel reading during their Sunday Night Football broadcast against their division rival, the San Francisco 49ers and posted a 137.6 on Monday Night Football against the Saints.

62.5 percent of Seattle’s wins from 2000-2013 have come in the home stadium that holds 67,000, but it is the seat deck and construction of the stadium that amplify the sounds of the “12’s” and make life miserable for the opposition.

The noise reverberating through the stadium has seen a high number of false start penalties and had former head coach Mike Holmgren attribute the 11 false start penalties in a 2005 game against the New York Giants to the enthusiastic fans who received the game ball for their efforts.

This year’s road to the Super Bowl will likely run through the Pacific Northwest once again where the Seahawks have lost just once since quarterback Russell Wilson came into the league three years ago.
