The Atlanta Hawks have had a bad week, as general manager Danny Ferry followed up news that owner Steve Levenson was selling his stake in the team over a racist email he sent by allegedly saying racist things.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Ferry’s comments came earlier this summer, but they were racially charged and aimed at Miami Heat forward Luol Deng — whom the Hawks pursued at one point in time.

Klye Korver, who played with Deng in Chicago, spoke with Chris Vivalamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and noted that he talked with Deng about the Ferry incident and Deng holds no grudges against the general manager.

"Yeah we did speak. Luol is such a good guy. And he’s been through so much in life that I don’t really think this has really even phased him. He told me that he didn’t think that Danny or anyone with the Hawks was racist. He said he was shocked when he heard what was said, but that sometimes things just slip out. It was pretty amazing, really. He just wants everything to move on. He wants to get back to basketball."

Deng has never played for the Hawks and likely never will but he still has the state of mind to sort of come to the defense of the team. he’s not waving a Hawks flag by any means, but he’s defusing the situation rather than further ignite it. We don’t know the full story with Danny Ferry, who probably said some racist things but might not have. But Deng isn’t letting it bother him which is a true sign of his character.
