The Seattle Seahawks lost to the San Diego Chargers on the road on Sunday afternoon. In that game Philip Rivers and the San Diego offense employed a different approach against Richard Sherman than did the Green Bay Packers in week 1: they actually threw the ball Sherman’s direction.

Contrary to the results that many people might have assumed would have happened, the Chargers actually enjoyed limited success when they did test Sherman. To be clear, “limited” would be the word to describe their positive results: it’s not as if they lit up Sherman to the tune of multiple long touchdowns or something like that.

Even still, completed passes were enough for the Chargers to declare that they had “exposed” Sherman after the game was over.

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Sherman quickly took to Twitter to respond to the suggestion that the Chargers exposed him:

It is likely that the film will bear things out exactly as Sherman suggests. That said, the boisterous corner should know as well as anybody that sometimes the results on the field are only half the battle. The other half of the battle is public perception off the field, something Sherman goes out of his way to seize whenever he can.

In that regard, the Chargers might have beat him to the punch in this case, especially with the backing of the fact that they won the game when they made these claims.
