The two bonded over being point guards in the league despite Williams’ decline. The two even share the same agent.

However, in the offseason, Kidd made a power player and he and the Nets wound up parting ways. Kidd left the Nets to become head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. He was replaced by former Memphis Grizzlies’ head coach Lionel Hollins. Williams was surprised by the exit and hasn’t talk to Kidd since it happened.

“I think it surprised everybody,” Williams said via Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News. “I don’t think anybody saw that coming. It was out of nowhere.

“I don’t’ even know enough about the situation,” the point guard added. “I’ve heard a lot of things as you guys probably have so I don’t’ know exactly what happened, but we’re excited about Lionel Hollins being our next coach and we wish J-Kidd the best of luck in Milwaukee, but we’re excited about Lionel.”

Williams averaged just 14.3 points, 6.1 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 45.0% from the field, 36.6% from three and 80.1% from the free throw line. last season.  In his nine-year career, the third-overall pick of the 2005 NBA Draft has put up 17.4 points, 8.7 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 45.3% from the floor, 35.7% from three and 81.7% from the foul line.
