The San Francisco 49ers completely fell apart last night in the fourth quarter of their game against the Chicago Bears that ultimately caused the team to lose. Leading 20-7 heading into the final period, it seemed that the 49ers Levi’s Stadium debut was going to be a successful one.

Unfortunately for the fans in attendance, the game will be remembered by the complete and utter collapse the 49ers went through in the fourth quarter.

“We hurt ourselves,” Colin Kaepernick, who turned the ball over four times, told 49ers media after the team’s loss. “We weren’t executing the way we should have been.”

Jay Cutler and the Bears team had a wild fourth quarter that saw them put up three touchdowns to spoil the 49ers home opener. Cutler threw three touchdowns to Brandon Marshall, two of which came in the deciding fourth quarter.

The Bears defense, that was ravaged by injuries, put together a spectacular performance late by causing Kaepernick to make poor decisions over and over that ultimately led to the Bears being victorious.

“We let them get back into the game,” Frank Gore frustratingly stated after the game. “We didn’t finish and they beat us.”

Although the Bears loss will be a tough pill to swallow, it is only Week 2 and the team knows that there is still a lot of football to be played moving forward.

“We’ve got to clean it up and move on,” Gore continued. “We’ve got Arizona next week. They’re 2-0 and they’re feeling themselves. They’re a tough team, great team, and they’re playing great ball.”
