Oakland Raiders safety Charles Woodson: ‘We suck’
By Cory Buck
The Oakland Raiders were once again pounded by the opposition — a familiar sight for those who have been watching the Raiders for the last decade or so. Veteran safety Charles Woodson couldn’t help but still be surprised by the team’s latest woeful performance against the Houston Texans.

“We suck,” Woodson said per CSN Bay Area. “That’s as blunt as I can put it. For whatever reason, defensively we just won’t stop people, especially early in games. Every drive, every first drive, teams are able to go and get points. Today, it happened all day. Offensively, we put the ball on the ground. We had opportunities and didn’t capitalize on it. Collectively, we look bad.”
It’s hard to argue with Woodson, who was optimistic that 2014 would be a different type of year for the Raiders. Losing in your home opener to the team that posted the NFL’s worst record last season can be a pretty easy way to draw the word ‘suck’ though and it’s hard to discredit Woodson for his frustration.
“The mistakes are correctable, but we said that last week,” Woodson said. “How long do we get to say mistakes are correctable before we get to a point where we realize they are not correctable? I don’t know. Are they correctable? Yeah. But when do they get corrected? That’s what we’re trying to figure out.”
