Vince Young’s football career never panned out like many of us expected it to. The former Texas standout hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2011 and there’s little reason to believe Young will ever get a real shot at carving out a pro career again.

But perhaps the saddest part of Young’s story is his well-known financial troubles. Young, whose rookie contract with the Tennessee Titans in 2006 paid him $25.7 million in guaranteed money, filed for Chapter 11 earlier in 2014.

Now, it’s being made known via TMZ Sports that Young is being sued for a $700,000 unpaid loan from 2011.

"The allegations are pretty cut and dry — Young and his former financial adviser Ron Peoples are being sued by Triton Financial … which claims Young took out the loan in April 2011 (when he was still with the Tennessee Titans) and agreed to pay the WHOLE THING BACK in 5 short months. Young also agreed to pay a $21k “origination fee.” Problem is, according to Titan, Young never forked over the money … and now his debt (with interest) has grown to a whopping $1,163,194.58."

Considering how promising Young’s life and career once looked, it’s incredibly tragic to see stories like this.

Young was once thought to be a potential star quarterback. Now, he’s the newest poster boy for how professional athletes shouldn’t handle their money.

The Titans selected Young with the No. 3 pick of the 2006 NFL Draft.
