Chuck Pagano wanted a flag on Eagles late-game interception

The Indianapolis Colts lost a heartbreaker on Monday Night Football to the Philadelphia Eagles after the team led by 14 points at halftime. They even had a seven-point lead with less than five minutes to go when an Andrew Luck pass intended for T.Y. Hilton ended up in the hands of Malcolm Jenkins. Colts coach Chuck Pagano isn’t just blaming that play for the team’s last-second loss, but he did have choice words for the play that led to the interception.

The controversy as it were surrounds contact initiated by Eagles cornerback Brandon Boykin that put Hilton to the turf just seconds before Jenkins made the interception. Given how strictly the NFL has enforced illegal contact in the first two weeks, it was surprising to see no penalty flag thrown. Pagano was equally surprised.
“I think I had the same view as you did,” Pagano said per submitted comments via Pro Football Talk. “It sure looked like it on the Jumbotron. We’ll look at the tape.”
The Eagles drove the ball down the field to tie the game, stopped the Colts on a three-and-out, then drove down once more for a field goal as time expired to win the game 30-27. The loss dropped the Colts to 0-2 at the start of a season filled with hope for the team. Now Pagano will have to cast controversy aside and get his team ready to avoid falling into an 0-3 hole.
