Bironas was just 36 years old.

According to reports, Bironas lost control of his vehicle and veered off of the road through several trees and into a ravine.

The vehicle was upside down when authorities arrived.

Bironas was taken to the Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Bironas was traveling at a high rate of speed, according to authorities, but drugs or alcohol are not believed to have been a factor.

In June of this year, Bironas married Rachel Bradshaw, who is the daughter of Pro Football Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw.

Bironas’ family sent out a message from his official Twitter account to confirm the passing.

Bironas last played for the Titans in 2013, before being released this offseason on March 19.

The longtime Titans kicker finished his career with an 85.7 career field goal percentage and a long of 60 yards. Bironas debuted for the Titans in 2005, after time on the offseason rosters of the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Pittsburgh Steelers and a brief stint in the Arena League.

Our thoughts and prayers our with all of Bironas’ family and friends as they deal with this unexpected tragedy.
