The Houston Rockets pulled off a deal to acquire veteran guard Jason Terry from the Sacramento Kings. They made the move to provide depth after trading point guard Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers but many wonder if Terry has anything left in the tank.

Jabari Davis of Basketball Insiders believes Terry may still be a big asset in late game situations.

"I’m not sure what can be expected from Terry at this point. He’s probably still a guy you can count on to get hot a few times a year or knock down a big shot here and there, but if you’re the Rockets and are anticipating major contributions from a 37-year-old Terry at this point in his career, then you’re at a point of desperation. I don’t think they are quite there, so what I’m guessing is they’ll still provide the room for Johnson and other young players to develop along the way, but having a guy like Terry for late game/clock situations is not a bad idea. It will be McHale’s responsibility to keep Terry sharp and healthy while developing Johnson."

Terry has hit a lot of big shots in his career but Davis is right – if you’re asking for a major contribution, you’re in trouble.

Terry averaged just 4.5 points, 1.6 assists, 1.1 rebounds and 0.4 steals per game while shooting 36.2% from the floor, 37.9% from beyond the arc and 66.7% from the floor. The 10th-overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft has played for the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Brooklyn Nets and Sacramento Kings (although he never appeared in a game for the Kings). In his 15-year career, he’s put up 15.4 points, 4.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game while shooting 44.6% from the floor, 37.9% from three and 84.6% from the charity stripe.
