The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without starting cornerback Ike Taylor for quite some time, following an injury on Sunday Night Football against the Carolina Panthers.

Taylor was trying to wrap up Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, when Steelers linebacker Lawrence Timmons put his helmet right on Taylor’s arm which appeared to snap right in half. Taylor immediately looked to the sidelines for medical assistance.

NBC showed the replay initially, before Chris Collinsworth said they would not show the end result.

Some quick photos on social media show that Taylor’s arm did indeed snap in half. (You can see the photo by cycling to the following page, but it is not for the squeamish).

After the injury, there was a nice moment between Taylor and Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

It remains to be seen how long Taylor will be out, but he was taken off the field in an air cast after having his arm snapped in two so we would imagine it will not be anytime soon. You also have to wonder whether or not that was Taylor’s last snap as a member of the Steelers.
