16. Dwight Freeney – $93,578,822

Freeney, 34, is still hanging around with the San Diego Chargers and is in his second year with the AFC West team after spending the first 11 years with the Indianapolis Colts after they spent the No. 11 pick on the former Syracuse Orange defensive end.

How quickly we forget about Freeney and how dominant he was on that turf in Indy based on how his time in San Diego has turned out, but for a decade he was one of the most-feared defenders in the NFL. His speed off the snap and explosiveness made him a nightmare for big offensive tackles who did not have the foot speed to keep up with him and his deathly spin move.

Freeney has 109 career sacks, 107.5 of them with the Colts, and 43 forced fumbles as the premier end in a Cover 2 scheme that placed an emphasis on speed rather than size and at 6-1, 268-pounds with a lightning-quick first step was the perfect fit in that role.
