There literally could not have been a better scripted moment for Derek Jeter to end his final game at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night. Tied 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth with a runner on second, Jeter hit one of his signature single shots the other way to right field and made sure the Yankees would not lose on this night.

But for all of the joy that was felt with that game-winning hit, it quickly turned to sadness as the realization set in that this will indeed be the final time everyone sees Jeter in a Yankee uniform on that Yankee Stadium field.
After the game, with the crowd chanting his name relentlessly, the five-time World Champion went out onto the field and took it all in one last team, making sure to make a special stop at the shortstop area.
This was one of the more emotional nights that Major League Baseball will ever see, but all of this could not have happened to a better ambassador for the game and the Yankees organization.
