There was a lot of hype and a lot of buzz around Washington Redskins’ quarterback Kirk Cousins entering his team’s Thursday night game against the New York Giants.

Fantasy football owners nationwide scrambled to add Cousins off the waiver wire after he chucked it all over the yard in his team’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in week 3. In the meantime, the wheels already started turning on a quarterback controversy as the football world wondered about the possibility of Cousins taking over the job from Robert Griffin III for good.
That still might be what happens, but Cousins did little on his first drive to show he is ready to take the job. He missed a wide open deep pass to Niles Paul, then he took a sack and lost a fumble.
It’s only one drive, of course, but maybe a reminder that Cousins still has a lot to prove.
Here is the sack and lost fumble.
