The Rutgers Scarlet Knights will wear their new black uniforms for their next home game against Michigan on October 4th in what has become an increasingly annoying trend of using alternate uniforms for prime time games.

More from College Football

They will  be wearing the black uniforms for the first time during the 2014 season.

Of course, there are some that are having some fun with this.

I would hate to break it to you, but Hoke might not even make it to next weekend! If he does and Rutgers does become the latest team to embarrass the Wolverines, this is entirely possible.

As for the uniforms themselves, I think Rutgers did well with these. They are not an eyesore like nearly everything Oregon has rolled out this year. They don’t have the players names and numbers in metallic print, so they shouldn’t be too hard to see. The player names are still in red, so that could be difficult for those people who attend the game.

The helmets, while metallic, do not have a large, overblown mascot on it. The “R” is about the normal size, which makes these alternate uniforms one of the better ones we have seen this year. They are simple. They are sharp. Will the team be when they take on Michigan?

I guess we will just have to wait until Saturday to find out.
