Well it seems as if the quarterback controversy at LSU has come to and end, sort of, as Les Miles announced on Monday that freshman Brandon Harris will be the starting quarterback this Saturday when the Tigers head off to Jordan-Hare to take on the Auburn Tigers in an SEC West match up.

This really shouldn’t come as a shock to many, especially considering how well Harris played this past Saturday in the team’s win over New Mexico State 63-7.

After Anthony Jennings got off to a poor start, Harris was inserted under center and played phenomenally, throwing for 178 yards on 11-of-14 passing with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Jennings was 2-of-5 with no touchdowns and two picks.

Because of that performance, Miles noted that it was a pretty easy decision to hand the reins over to Harris for the biggest game that LSU will play so far this season.

This decision will appease a lot of people that were of the belief that Harris should have been the starter under center since day one. While those folks were frustrated the past few weeks, Harris was given the opportunity on Saturday to show that he can do it, and he took advantage of that opportunity from start to finish.

Now, though, it’s time to see if he can get the job done against one of the best teams the country has to offer in the fifth-ranked Auburn Tigers.
