University of Michigan students are livid with Dave Brandon for the terrible football season that they’re having as well as the bad press he’s been given after it was questioned if head football coach Brady Hoke played quarterback Shane Morris with a concussion in the fourth quarter of Saturday’s loss to Minnesota. Now, a “Fire Dave Brandon” rally is scheduled to happen in Ann Arbor Tuesday.

According to MLive Ann Arbor, Michigan students are already calling for Dave Brandon’s job, as nearly 2,000 have signed an online petition asking for the athletic director to step down.

According to the report, as of 9:50 AM ET on Tuesday, the petition already had 1,800 signatures.

This is the full summary of the petition organized on Michigan’s Student Government website:

"“Dave Brandon is the current Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Michigan. He has held the title since 2010. Upon being named the Athletic Director, Mr. Brandon stated “athletic programs play [a role] in helping to shape the culture and image of our university community.” Unfortunately, under Mr. Brandon’s tenure, the football program, one of the most prominent programs at the University of Michigan and in the nation, has become a black eye for the University of Michigan. Instead of adding to the image and prestige of the university, the state of the athletic department has hurt the connection shared between alumni, fans, and the university. Furthermore, policies and decisions of the athletic department have alienated the current student body. As a result, the university risks producing a generation of alumni that are disinterested and disengaged. Finally, President Mark Schlissel previously stated that one draw of the athletic program is to provide an avenue for “public attention on to the other wonderful things that are happening on campus…” When the athletic department produces overwhelmingly negative media attention, it distracts from the main mission of the university.”"

Now, a rally is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at Michigan’s Central Campus as a post went out on Michigan’s main football blog “MGOBlog” Tuesday that read: “Fire Dave Brandon rally on the Diag. 6 p.m. Tuesday. Be there.” The post headlines the blog site.

Brandon said in his statement released around 1 a.m. on Tuesday morning that he apologized for “a serious lack of communication” and “a circumstance that was not in the best interest of one of our student-athletes” after Michigan played Morris with a concussion in the fourth quarter.

We’ll see how effective this rally could be, and if we see Brandon go out when head coach Brady Hoke inevitably is fired either later this season or after its conclusion.
