This week, the NFL fantastic five is centered on games in which teams scored at least 38 points. Why? The NFL tied a post-merger league record with eight teams scoring at least 38 points in Week 4, and there were plenty of fantastic statistics involved in those games.

The only other time that has happened since the 1970 merger was Week 13 of the 1983 season. What’s nuts is that while two games during that 1983 week featured both teams lighting up the scoreboard, last week,  no games had both teams put up at least 38 points.

The average score in those eight Week 4 games was 40-16. Seven of the eight were decided by three touchdowns or greater. The only one that was relatively close was the Minnesota Vikings and Atlanta Falcons game in which the Teddy Bridgewater-led Vikings took down a hot Matt Ryan-led Falcons squad, 41-28, at home.

Here are five fantastic stats from a record Week 4 NFL season.
