NFL Power Rankings: Division rankings after Week 4
By Brad Rowland
2) AFC West
Let’s get the negative out of the way. The Oakland Raiders are wretched. The organization has already fired its head coach, Dennis Allen, after an 0-4 start, and their performance in London in a lopsided loss to the Miami Dolphins was deplorable. Quite frankly, their incompetence is the only thing separating the AFC West from the league’s best division, but in my view, Oakland is the worst team in the NFL and that brings the group down.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, it was a fantastic weekend for the Kansas City Chiefs, who plastered the Patriots on Monday. In the interest of full disclosure, I am still not a full believer in a team that is quarterbacked by Alex Smith without the benefit of a dominant defense, but the Jamaal Charles-Knile Davis is real, and the Chiefs are well-coached.
Both the Denver Broncos and San Diego Chargers had the “week off” (well, the Chargers played, but against the lowly Jaguars), but don’t worry, we know that they are good. Denver is the favorite despite a half-game deficit, but each team has a claim on playoff positioning at the time of this post.
