I know the Oregon fans are mad about the excessive celebration flag, and I hate the fact that it may have decided the outcome of the game. That said, the officials set a precedent earlier in the game that they were going to call that. They did on Arizona for less than that in the first half. It was a dumb penalty, but Washington should have known better. Still, I don’t know if Oregon wins anyway. Arizona dominated the point of attack all game. Oregon’s line was manhandled.
The loss of Taysom Hill is devastating for BYU. They went from hopefuls to get to a New Years Six bowl, to a team that could end up with five losses.
Congratulations are in order for SMU. They quintupled their scoring output from the season in just one game!
Okay, so I was wrong. Purdue is not the worst team in the Big Ten(14). It’s Illinois.
Ohio State is looking like an elite team right now. Barrett is comfortable in the offense now, and Elliott has emerged as a good RB. The defense is still very good. The question though is how bad will the Virginia Tech loss look at the end of they year? Or how good? If they manage to win the ACC Coastal, it could turn into a quality loss. Right now, it isn’t really close now.
Florida finally did what they should have done at least two games ago: they replaced Jeff Driskel at quarterback. However, they did not do it until the fourth quarter. When they finally did, they scored a touchdown on the first drive led by Treon Harris. Granted, he had a short field, but he did not turn the ball over. Driskel threw three interceptions again. This was not a moral victory for Tennessee. They had a great many shots to win this game, but the Florida defense did a great job when Tennessee got into the red zone. That was the difference in the game.
Mississippi State proved it. They came out and outplayed Texas A&M, especially on the defensive side of the ball. They forced Kenny Hill into bad throws, and the porous A&M D had no answer for Dak Prescott. Their reward? Auburn next week, and a possible visit from ESPN’s GameDay. For real this time. Not just as step-brothers 80 miles away.
It was a victory of sorts for North Carolina. They only allowed 34 points…….
