Stephon Marbury has a pretty cool video
Stephon Marbury, former NBA starbury who is now a huge star in China, made his stage debut in “I Am Marbury,” a play about the impact the star of the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association had on the lives of some Chinese artists.
It is glorious in its awfulness.
Marbury is huge in Beijing, where they have built a statue in the city for him after he led the Ducks to two CBA titles.
Marbury, in typical American fashion, speaks English while portraying himself and his lines are repeated by the Chinese actors in Mandarin.
There is such nuggets of wisdom as:
"“I am Marbury. You are Marbury. We are all connected.”"
So when he’s too old for basketball, Starbury will have a future writing fortune cookies … so there’s that.
Christopher Beam of New Republic traveled to Beijing and caught a rehearsal, which also included such gems as:
"“I am a champion. You are a champion. But it was all yesterday. We will never stop working hard. We will never be satisfied. We will always keep moving on.”"
Is there a Mandarin word for “gag me”?

Marbury spent 13 seasons in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves, New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks and Boston Celtics from 1996-2009 and the Brooklyn playground legend was supposed to be the next great point guard.
But that never happened.
He has achieved that level of superstar status in China, though. He’s been given a key to the city in Beijing and was awarded honorary Chinese citizenship. There is even a rumor he is being considered to coach the Chinese national team.
And if nothing else, there’s always “I Am Marbury.”
