Dallas Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain had a great game on Sunday against the Houston Texans in his first game back after missing week three and four for Dallas with a groin injury, including six tackles and a batted down pass . However, McClain finished the game inside the Dallas locker room instead of on the field. He left the game against Houston late in the fourth quarter after the same groin injury flared up on him. McClain remained out for the duration of overtime and now moving forward there are questions regarding just how bad this injury is and just how long the young linebacker could be sidelined.

After the game on Sunday Rolando McClain was asked by the Star-Telegram in Dallas about his injury and had this to say.

“The doctor said 2-4 weeks and it obviously hasn’t been that long,” McClain said. “Coming back and playing after one week, you’re going to have your ups and downs. It’s all a part of the game. You need to be out there. We need everybody out there. I think everybody is hurting at this point. It’s such a physical season, we play physical teams everywhere, and the way we try to play offense and defense we are physical too. Everybody is a little beat up. That’s just a part of the team. We’ve got a fighting spirit, so we’ve got to keep fighting.”

McClain has been  a bright spot on a Dallas Cowboys defense that has been better this season than many predicted, and after already losing corner back Morris Claiborne for the remainder of the season they can not afford to have McClain miss much more time. While he didn’t offer any sort of timetable moving forward it seems likely this could linger and may just be a question of whether or not McClain will be able to play through it week to week.
