Luke Schenn might be looking to take on an enforcer role within the Flyers’ organization

Luke and Brayden Schenn are practically twins- only a year apart, the two are one of the growing number of sibling pairs out on the ice for various NHL franchises.

Luke Schenn, though, is the defenseman, and the older brother. It looks like he has taken it upon himself to improve upon his leadership role on the team- and maybe even pick up a reputation as the team’s new enforcer.

Chris Pronger hasn’t played for the Philadelphia Flyers in almost three years, and Scott Hartnell has taken off for the Columbus Blue Jackets. It doesn’t seem like R.J. Umberger has any intention of replacing Hartnell’s immense physical presence on the team, so it seems that the older Schenn is trying to pick up the slack.

All Wednesday night, Luke Schenn seemed to be in the middle of whatever scuffle was happening on the ice. He got into it with Torey Krug, Brad Marchand, Dougie Hamilton, and even the team’s newcomer, fourth line physical force Bobby Robins.

Some might say that Zac Rinaldo already fills the role of enforcer on the team, but many others suggest that this role is given to one of the team’s top performers. As a top defenseman for the Flyers, that would leave the job to Schenn- and would most likely leave Rinaldo floating around as the resident Philadelphia thug.
