What NFL players signed last offseason represent the greatest values?
Every NFL team has now played a quarter of their season, even those that have had their bye week. This is enough time to get a feel for how players are fitting into their teams scheme, and how players are going to be used this season. That makes this a great time to determine the best and worst free agent values from last offseason.
Around the league, there were many good values to be had. The Seahawks got a good rotational defensive tackle in former Pro Bowler Kevin Williams for just 2 years and $3 million, and that wasn’t a good enough value to make the top five.
Of course, value is always a bit subjective to playing time. A starter may cost a bit more than a rotational player, but is worth the extra salary. To make this list, a player had to sign with a different team than they were with at the end of the 2013 season. Undrafted free agents were not considered.
