Anyone that has ever watched Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall knows that he’s a tough guy.

But the 30-year-old star might just be tougher than any of us thought. Marshall revealed to the Chicago Sun Times that the ankle injury he suffered in Week 1 should have held him out four games, but he talked doctors into letting him stay on the field.

"“I can’t just sit on the sideline and was the guys have fun and battle together,” he said.“It’s just not in my blood.”Marshall said doctors had ruled him out for the first two weeks of his injury, but he convinced both to wait until game day.(…)“So last week was the first week where we really had a chance to get me involved,” Marshall said. “The first two weeks, the doctors ruled me out. they said I wasn’t going to play and I went to them and said, ‘Just make it a game-time decision’"

One has to give Marshall credit for doing whatever he could to help the team. While the Bears are just 2-3, there’s no denying that Marshall’s presence has helped the team, even considering his less-than-100-percent health.

Marshall has 19 catches for 188 yards and five touchdowns this season. The Bears traded with the Miami Dolphins for Marshall prior to the 2012 season. He posted at least 100 catches and 1,200 yards in each of his first two years with the team.

The Denver Broncos selected Marshall in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft.
