Dallas Cowboys’ DeMarco Murray may be the best running back in the NFL. He is putting up historic numbers to start the season, rushing for over 100 yards in ever game so far. However, this could be DeMarco Murray’s last season in Dallas because he can become a free agent following the season.

Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray has been a huge reason for the Cowboys’ 4-1 start. He’s rushed for over 100 yards in each of their five games.

DeMarco Murray will become a free agent after the season and although the Cowboys want to keep him and could use the franchise tag to do so, there’s a chance he could leave in free agency.

Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News believes there is a “realistic chance” of DeMarco Murray bolting but doesn’t think it would be that big of a deal.

"I think there’s a realistic chance of that happening. But I don’t think it’s the end of the world if it does. Will Randle, Dunbar and Williams be enough to replace him? I doubt it. They could possibly draft a running back as well. But the offensive line has been a big part of Murray’s success and they’re not going anywhere. With all of that said, Jerry Jones doesn’t let many good players get away. I think he’ll find some way to keep Murray in Dallas, even if it’s just the one-year franchise tag."

If the Cowboys can’t keep DeMarco Murray, he will clearly be a hot commodity.

DeMarco Murray has rushed for 670 yards and five touchdowns on 130 carries while catching 15 passes for 124 yards. In his four-year NFL career, he’s rushed for 3,351 yards and 20 touchdowns on 672 attempts and has 129 receptions for 908 yards and one touchdown. The Cowboys selected DeMarco Murray, a former Oklahoma Sooners’ star, with the 71st-overall pick in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
