Can Kenny Hill win college football‘s highest honor?
Firstly, let me say goodness gracious is Kenny Hill impressive. My oh my. Lets jump right in and look at his numbers. In only six games Hill has 2,110 yards, 21 touchdowns and five interceptions while having a completion percentage of 64 percent.
On another note: After this sentence, Hill is getting addressed as “Trill” because the man has deserved it. He is playing too trill at this moment.
I anointed Trill after week one as the lead man in the Heisman Trophy chase. Since his first game against the South Carolina Gamecocks, he played out of this world incredible. They say all good things must come to an end, and it sucks that after watching Trill tear up college football in the beginning of the season that the Texas A&M Aggies now have a loss in their record.
Trill played poorly against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. It was a tough game because the Bulldogs are a very competitive team. Texas A&M got outplayed and it was because they were on the road in a very hostile environment against a team who was still riding the momentum of defeating the No. 8 LSU Tigers in Tiger Stadium.

The Bulldogs were a hungrier opponent on that Saturday afternoon, and they wanted this win more than the Aggies. In the SEC it happens (ask Bama), there is no shame in a conference loss.
On another note: For anyone who dare says that the SEC is not the best conference in college football, just look at the numbers. Currently there are seven SEC teams ranked within the AP Top 25 Poll in college football right now.
Trill had a ton of turnovers which led to the defeat. His final statline for the game was 37-of-62 for a 59.7 completion percentage, four touchdowns and three interceptions. To think Trill only started the game with two interceptions and 17 touchdowns is hard to fathom for me.
Most of the game, Trill looked off. He scrambled and had a few big runs, but most of the time he was overthrowing receivers and it looked like at one point he was playing throw up tackle. The way he kept chucking the football down the field and missing his targets at times was cringe worthy, (who wasn’t thinking another interception was coming), though Trill had one of his poorest efforts this season, his receivers didn’t help him much either. They accounted for a bunch of dropped passes and couldn’t get separation most of the game.
All hope is not loss though. Since Trill plays in the SEC, he can win the Heisman Trophy similary as some of his former SEC quarterbacks in the past have done while suffering a regular season loss. That list includes Johnny Manziel in 2012, Sam Bradford in 2008, and Tim Tebow in 2007.

The saving grace for Trill is that the SEC every week has a difficult test and next week Trill will have to face against the wonderful defensive lineman Robert Nkemdiche and the No. 3 Ole Miss Rebels. Fresh off a win against Alabama, the Rebels want to show that they are for real (we know they are, they don’t need to prove it). Their defense is that of legendary and they are an awesome and fun group to watch. This game is either going to make or break the Heisman candidacy of Trill.
After the Ole Miss game, the Aggies will again have more difficult games as they will face No. 7 Alabama and No. 2 Auburn on the road, while playing against No. 23 Missouri and LSU at home.
Trill has an opportunity to not only win the Heisman Trophy playing well in these upcoming games but will cement Texas A&M with an opportunity into the College Football Playoff. Reeling off a streak of victories against these juggernaut opponents will also grant him a berth into the SEC Championship, to further boost the Texas A&M College Football Playoff resume.
Though he has one of the most toughest tasks in college football attempting to lead Texas A&M against Goliath and his four brothers for the rest of the season, Trill has the talent to do just that. If he can accomplish these victories then can we finally say he is better than…dare I say it…. Johnny Manziel?
Don’t hold your breath too long though, Trill already is.
