Indiana Pacers fans are watching their season hang in the balance before it even begins, which could lead to changes by way of some major trades.

Roy Hibbert is a name that has been mentioned more in trade rumors this summer than anyone thought he would and the talk just doesn’t end. With Paul George out for the season with his broken leg, there has been speculation as to what the Pacers will do to fill the void or possibly blow things up to rebuild.

Hibbert is in the final year of his contract and is slated to hit restricted free agency this summer, meaning the Pacers have a decision to make about what to do with him. one option could be to trade him, possibly for Rajon Rondo which is a scenario we’ve heard about in the past.

Chuck Myron from HoopsRumors opines that the Celtics and Pacers may talk about a Roy Hibbert deal but Boston isn’t likely to throw in Rajon Rondo when a sign-and-trade is much more likely in 2015.

"The Celtics. Sure, you get the security of Hibbert on a long-term deal, but the C’s have enough of a chance to sign him or trade him for better assets that they don’t need to do that. I love Mr. Verticality, but he’s not worth it for Boston in this scenario."

This is really a buzz kill for the Pacers, as this sort of train of thought will be rampant in basketball this season. Unless someone needs Hibbert to make a title run — something he’s demonstrated he’s not a lot of help in — then a trade seems unlikely.

Someone might dangle for Hibbert, but at the back of everyone’s mind is the idea of a sign-and-trade for much less in the summer.
