The Dallas Cowboys’ season has been much better than many were expecting, and they don’t look ready to slow down just yet. Tony Romo has been playing solid football, and Jason Witten is having another fairly consistent year. He isn’t being used as much as he has been in the past, but he is still a very consistent target whenever the ball comes his way.

Romo made it clear how he feels about Witten, and said that he felt Witten could be the best Cowboy ever. Witten had a response for Romo’s comments.
"“I mean, I’m definitely humbled by him saying that — being mentioned with some of those guys that make this organization the best in the world. But I got a long way to go to catch those guys. I think it just shows the relationship we have – a lot of respect. You do something with somebody for so long, you’re pulling for them and you want to see them do well. That’s the relationship we have. But there’s been some great ones and I know I’ve got a long way to go to even be mentioned with those guys.”"
Witten is currently in his 12th season with the Cowboys, and has put up some impressive numbers in his career. He has caught 898 passes for 10,014 yards and 52 touchdowns. Those numbers aren’t quite good enough to call him the best Cowboy ever, but he still has a nice resume for the future if he does continue to play.
At the age of 32, Witten still has a couple year of football left in him. There isn’t too much time left for him to try and improve his numbers, but he isn’t washed up just yet. Witten is definitely one of the best tight ends to ever play for the Cowboys, and likely tops the list at this point in time.
Hopefully he is able to continue playing at a high level until he calls it a career. There aren’t many football players that have carried themselves with the class that Witten has throughout his career, and it will be a sad day when he decides to walk away from the game. Until then, the Cowboy still have one of the surest handed tight ends in football.
