Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Josh McCown is expected to miss their Week 6 game vs. Baltimore.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed quarterback Josh McCown this past offseason, and were hoping that he could repeat the type of season that he had with the Chicago Bears last season. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case earlier this season in the short time that he was on the field. He went down with an injury and has missed the last couple of weeks, and appears unlikely to play this week against the Baltimore Ravens.

McCown has thrown for 420 yards, two touchdowns, and four interceptions so far this season, and simply hasn’t looked like an NFL starting quarterback. Mike Glennon on the other hand has come in and played well, throwing for 672 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions. It’s hard to say that Glennon should win the starting job, but if McCown doesn’t come back and play well the Buccaneers will have to at least consider that option.

Last season, McCown outplayed the expectations in a major way, but he also had both Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall to throw to. Those two wide receivers made major plays for him, and made him look much better than he really was. It will be intriguing to see if he is able to turn things back around when he comes back from injury, but right now the signing looks like it could end up being a bust.
At 35 years of age, there isn’t much time left for McCown to turn things around and prove that he can be an NFL starter. Tampa Bay is still hoping that he can get back to looking like he did last season, but it is far from a sure thing. McCown may only have one more chance before the Buccaneers move on.
