New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz, who had seen a slow start to his season only to pick it up greatly over the past two weeks, was injured in the third quarter of tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. It is reportedly a torn patella tendon. That injury has the potential to be season-ending.
Cruz, who had two catches for 16 yards this evening, was seen sobbing as he was carted off the field and heard screaming in agony. Apparently his screaming became even louder once medical personnel attempted to pick him up off the field and onto the cart.
The play itself looked fairly harmless but replays show that when he planted his leg on the ground to attempt to catch a pass in the end zone from Giants quarterback Eli Manning, he came down in immediate pain.
Cruz had a slow start to the season, grabbing just seven receptions on 16 targets. He was quiet in the win over the Atlanta Falcons last week but had 11 receptions for 215 yards and a touchdown the previous two weeks against Houston Texans and Washington Redskins.
