Victor Martinez Rumors: Orioles, Rangers could make offers
By Josh Hill
Victor Martinez is going to be a free agent this offseason, and while re-signing with Tigers isn’t a bad idea, there are a handful of teams who may make a run at him.
This winter is going to see more than a few teams make runs at free agents they think can make their team better, and one of those players is Victor Martinez. The Detroit Tigers have gotten some nice production out of their slugger this year and that may lead to him finding a bigger contract on the open market.

According to Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo, the Tigers aren’t the only team who may want to sign Martinez this offseason as a handful of clubs may make a run at him.
"If he elects free agency, comfort of the workplace will be extremely important. So you wonder about New York and whether we could be looking at more like Baltimore, Toronto, Chicago, or Texas. Suffice it to say, the Tigers would like to get it done sooner rather than later."
If the Orioles lost Nelson Cruz, which seems entirely possible this winter, then they’re an interesting name to consider for Martinez.
Cafardo also mentions that there’s a really great chance that the Tigers re-sign Martinez before he hits the open market, but that’s all up in the air.
What we do know for sure is that the Tigers slugger is desired by clubs in the American League and if it’s money he wants then Victor Martinez may be playing in a new uniform in 2015.
