The ESPN NBA analyst and Grantland founder went off on a rant about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. During his rant, he essentially dared ESPN to suspend him for his comments.
“Goodell, if he didn’t know what was on that tape, he’s a liar,” Simmons said astranscribed by Mediaite. “I’m just saying it. He is lying. I think that dude is lying. If you put him up on a lie detector test that guy would fail. For all these people to pretend they didn’t know is such f—— bullsh–. It really is — it’s such f—— bullsh–. And for him to go in that press conference and pretend otherwise, I was so insulted. I really was.”
They were happy to oblige and handed Simmons a three-week suspension — a suspension which led to an outcry of “Free Bill Simmons” support on Twitter.
That suspension ends at midnight tonight and Simmons has announced on Twitter that he will be returning to work one minute later with a podcast featuring his good pal Jalen Rose.
It will be interesting to see what Simmons has to say after three weeks off.
