By Phil Watson

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith was knocked out of Thursday’s game at New England with the Jets trailing 20-19 in the fourth quarter, but returned after one play.
The New York Jets got a scare in the fourth quarter of their game with the New England Patriots Thursday night when quarterback Geno Smith limped to the sidelines after a hit from Chandler Jones.

Jones appeared to roll up Smith’s left leg on the hit—although there was no flag thrown for a low hit on the quarterback—and Smith writhed on the ground in pain for a bit before limping to the sidelines.
Michael Vick replaced him for one play before Smith returned to the game and threw an incomplete pass to Eric Decker on third down.
The Jets have converted just one of three red zone opportunities in the game-a 1-yard run by Chris Ivory in the middle of the third quarter and twice had to settle for short Nick Folk field goals.
The Jets have lost five straight games after an opening-week win over winless Oakland and Smith has not exactly been lighting the world on fire. Through six weeks, he had completed 57.1 percent of his passes for 1,139 yards and six touchdowns, with seven interceptions.
He was benched in New York’s 31-0 loss at San Diego on Oct. 5 after going 4-for-12 for 27 yards and throwing a pick.
As a rookie, Smith completed only 55.8 percent of his throws for 3,046 yards and 12 touchdowns and had 21 interceptions. He started all 16 games for the Jets, who finished 8-8.
