How have the NFL‘s rookie crop of quarterbacks fared so far?
Quarterbacks are always the focal point of the NFL draft. They get the most attention and the quality of a draft’s quarterback class is usually how it is graded in the long-term.
The 2014 NFL Draft featured four quarterbacks who were expected to make an impact early in their professional careers. Most thought Central Florida’s Blake Bortles had the highest upside, while Louisville’s Teddy Bridgewater was the safest pick. Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel was the flashy, entertaining playmaker who might not translate and Fresno State’s Derek Carr was the steady senior who dominated lesser competition.
All four of those guys have seen action as rookies in 2014 and have had varying degrees of success. With apologies to Jimmy Garoppolo and Logan Thomas – who have seen limited action as backups – Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel and Carr are the four quarterbacks everyone cares about in the 2014 class.
