The Chicago Bears will be without Lance Briggs for a second straight game on Sunday and he won’t be the only defensive starter to miss the game either

Lance Briggs will miss his second consecutive game for the Chicago Bears with a rib injury after missing another day of practice on Friday. He will be joined on the inactive list by starting safety Chris Conte, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.

Briggs missed last week’s win against the Atlanta Falcons where the Bears played without their top four linebackers but were still able to control Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Roddy White enough to pick up the road win.

The Bears still have injuries to worry about at the linebacker position as Jon Bostic is questionable after being a limited participant in Friday’s practice. If Bostic is healthy, he’ll likely be the starter at the weak-side, but if he can’t go second-year linebacker Khaseem Greene will likely be the starter at Briggs’ position.

The Bears are expecting to get Shea McClellin back after he’s missed the past month with a broken hand and middle linebacker D.J. Williams is probable with his neck ailment that kept him out of last week’s game.

Conte missed time in the offseason with shoulder surgery and his problematic shoulder has seen him leave four games this season so fourth round pick Brock Vereen and Danny McCray will see extended action on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. The two have been rotating in and out during practice.
