The Minnesota Vikings are without head coach Mike Zimmer today at practice as he is currently undergoing a “minor procedure” of his own.

The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Buffalo Bills in New York on Sunday afternoon. A weekend after an ugly offensive showing against the Lions, Minnesota is looking to rebound, and they will need to after harsh words from their new head coach Mike Zimmer. However, Zimmer will be rebounding on his own this weekend as well.

More from Minnesota Vikings

On Friday morning, Adam Schefter reported that Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer underwent a “minor procedure” today. Unfortunately, he didn’t disclose any specifics, but you can bet that Zimmer will address the issue to the NFL media at some point in the coming days.

Not to make light of any medical situation, it could stand to reason that Zimmer may have had to deal with some sort of stress release after watching the product on the field last Sunday.

There is no doubt the first year head coach had to feel for his rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. While the offense struggled to get anything going, it was the offensive line that consistently broke down against a stout Lions front. Bridgewater was under duress more often than he wasn’t and the Vikings never found their rhythm.

Facing the Bills on Sunday, and then heading to Tampa Bay next weekend, Minnesota has two very winnable games coming up. Currently sitting at 2-4, two big wins could do a significant amount when it comes to changing the tide of the franchise this season.

Despite losing Adrian Peterson for what will likely amount to the entire season, the Vikings have a good chance to remain competitive throughout the remaining slate should they be able to address some of their issues on the offensive line. If Matt Kalil can find even a glimmer of his former Pro Bowl self, it would be a great start.

The Vikings and Bills kick off on Sunday at 1pm ET from Ralph Wilson Stadium.
