In an absolutely stunning trade, the New York Jets have acquired wide receiver Percy Harvin from the Seattle Seahawks for two conditional draft picks.

A year ago, the Seattle Seahawks made waves in the offseason when they traded for then-Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin. After just a season with him, the Seahawks are ready to move on and have shipped the receiver out east to New York.

Harvin was a stud with the Minnesota Vikings and netted them huge return in the trade back in 2013. It was a big gamble for the Seahawks but it never really ended up paying off and the team is apparently now trying to save face by trading him for a pair of conditional draft picks.

Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer was the first to report the trade between the Seahawks and Jets.

This is perhaps one of the most bizarre in-season trades the NFL has ever seen, as a massive name is moving from one popular team to another. The only difference is that the Jets are 1-6 and in dire straights at the moment.

Trading for Harvin is both a sign that the team thinks it can win but is more or less a sign of desperation from the front office. Rex Ryan must really want to keep his job, or perhaps pressure is being put on the front office of the Jets to do something that turns this season around.

At 1-6, the best the Jets can hope for is a 10-6 finish, but picking up Harvin shows that the slack has run out in New York and a losing season will result in a lot of blood flowing this upcoming offseason.
