Jacob deGrom Named NL Rookie Of The Year By Sporting News
The New York Mets got some good news today, as Jacob deGrom was named the National League Rookie of the year by sporting news.
Jacob deGrom came into this season unknown and he wasn’t expected to do anything much for the Mets. deGrom exploded on to the scene and put together an excellent 2014 campaign and that was enough for his fellow peers to vote him as the top MLB rookie in the National League.
The Mets pitcher went 9-6 with a 2.69 ERA and 144 strikeouts in 140 innings. deGrom really impressed the league with his ability to throw dominant stuff and maintain great control at the same time. deGrom is 26 years old and the Mets are considering whether or not to use him as trade bait, or to keep him on their team for the long haul. It will be interesting to see how deGrom fares next season. Will he have a sophomore slump, or will he continue to flash his brilliance and dominate the MLB while hoping to lead the Mets to the postseason.

The Mets have a surplus of pitching already and with Matt Harvey coming back from injury and even more names in the farm system it will be intriguing to see how the Mets handle deGrom. Either way having deGrom around your roster is great, if you trade him you’ll get a good piece for him and if you keep him, he’ll help win you games.
