The New England Patriots’ defense received bad news this week as they prepare for a Week 8 game with the Chicago Bears.
Pass rusher Chandler Jones missed practice with a hip injury. It turns out that the injury is going to keep him out of the lineup for one month. This is a big blow to the New England defense, as Jones has been the guy getting the most pressure for that defensive unit by far.
Shalise Manza Young reports the following about Jones:
Jones has been outstanding this year, recording 26 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He was a revelation last season for the Patriots as they searched for answers to pressure the quarterback, and he has been a key player for them ever since. Jones was especially disruptive in the team’s most recent game against the New York Jets.
The good news for the Patriots is that their bye week falls in the next month. The bad news? Their opponents during that stretch are the Bears, the Denver Broncos, and the Indianapolis Colts.
Not exactly an ideal time to lose your best pass rusher.
