battled in an especially interesting

NBA

preseason game on Tuesday night. After the Cavaliers added LeBron James and Kevin Love and the Bulls added Pau Gasol and have Derrick Rose back from injury, they are considered the two favorites in the Eastern Conference.

The Cavaliers wound up defeating the Bulls 107-98 behind 28 points and seven assists from Kyrie Irving, 22 points from Anderson Varejao and 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists from LeBron James, the story of the game was Derrick Rose. He scored 30 points, grabbed five rebouns and dished our three assists.

After the game, his teammates raved about his performance and marveled at how fast he is.

“The fastest guy on the court by far,” Bulls center Joakim Noah said, smiling via Ethan Skolnick of Bleacher Report.

Derrick Rose, as he often does, downplayed things.

“Just playing,” Rose said, without the slightest excitement. “Staying consistent with my workouts, no matter how I’m playing. Still trying to find my rhythm. Let the game come to me, and just play team basketball. Really, they were just giving me shots that I normally would take. The team is feeling more comfortable with me being on the floor, I’m feeling comfortable with just picking my spots.”

If Derrick Rose is healthy in the postseason, the Bulls will be a legitimate contender to knock off the Cavaliers in the postseason.

Derrick Rose averaged just 15.9 points, 4.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 31.1 minutes per game while shooting 35.4% from the field, 34.0% from beyond the arc and 84.4% from the free throw line in 10 games last season season. In his career, he has averaged 20.8 points, 6.8 assists and 3.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46.0% from the field, 31.2% from three and 81.5% from the charity stripe.
