ESPN College Pick Em Picks For Week 9

I ended up with 34 points last week, which was a little below average. My confidence in Stanford and Florida proved to be my undoing.

The games look much easier this week, and that is usually when the worst weeks happen.

The games are listed in order from most confidence(10) to least(1) for those of you that play the confidence version of the game like I do.

10: Auburn over South Carolina: The Gamecocks have struggled against nearly everyone but Georgia. Auburn has the offense to pound this defense into submission. The fact that it is in Auburn just seals the deal.

9. Minnesota over Illinois: The Illini have looked horrid in conference play. The Gophers are not all that good defensively, but they are far ahead of the Illini. The Gophers won’t have to throw if they don’t want to.

8. Michigan State over Michigan: I know this is a rivalry game and that Michigan is playing better, but they are not going to win in East Lansing. It could be closer than the experts thinks though.

7. Arizona State over Washington: Now we are getting to the games that worry me some. Washington is good enough to win this, especially at home, but they haven’t played up to their potential yet.

6. Arizona over Washington State: The Cougars have played well at home, but Arizona’s offense is simply too good for me to pick against. This could be a high scoring affair though.

5. Utah over USC: Kessler will be harrassed by the Utah defensive front all game. The only question I have is whether Utah can get enough going on offense to win this. At home, I think they find a way.

4. Mississippi over LSU: This is the ultimate trap game, but I am not going against the Ole Miss defense, even in Baton Rouge at night.

3. Oklahoma State over West Virginia: After the huge upset over Baylor, they have to travel to Stillwater to play an Oklahoma State team that is eager to prove that they are not as bad as TCU made them look. This spells lots of trouble for the Mountaineers.

2. Georgia Tech over Pittsburgh: Pitt looked pretty good against a solid VT defense. The difference here is that Georgia Tech can move the ball. I’m taking the Bees in a close one.

1. Virginia over North Carolina: Normally, I would have Virginia a lot higher because of their defense, but that North Carolina offense is really really good. There is always the chance that the Tarheels could get some big plays, even on a defense this good. I like Virginia, but not enough to put them higher.
