The 39-year-old right fielder is leaning towards playing another year in the MLB, and preferably would like to do so with his current team, the Detroit Tigers.

Torii Hunter, who is coming on the last leg of his career as he is now 39-years of age, is leaning towards playing another season in the MLB, but hasn’t completely decided. What he has decided, is that if he does he wants to play with his current team, the Detroit Tigers.

Initially, Hunter had some eerie comments about retirement after the Detroit Tigers were swept by the Baltimore Orioles in the ALDS of the MLB Playoffs.

“I don’t know what the future holds for me, whether I’m going to play again or get an opportunity to come back to Detroit,” he said at the time. “I just don’t know. I’ll talk it over with my wife. Just tired, tired right now, man.”

“I really want to play with the Tigers, but if not I understand,” Hunter told MLive.com. “Baseball will keep going with or without you. I haven’t even thought about it,” Hunter said. “I’m traveling as we speak to watch my three boys play college football. There’s definitely a good chance I will play again though.”

Torii Hunter hit .286 with 17 home runs, 83 RBIs and a .765 OPS in the 2014 season and batted second in the lineup playing right field.

Detroit Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski has not spoken on whether or not the Detroit Tigers would be interested in resigning the 39-year-old, and they may be more interested in putting that money elsewhere like to keep Victor Martinez or go after relief pitchers.

The point is that Torii Hunter wants to win a world series and the Detroit Tigers have the best team of talent in the MLB, they just need to find a way to put it all together and get an efficient bullpen. We’ll see what kind of moves Dombrowski makes and if he’s even interested in resigning Torii Hunter.
