The  future of Jim Harbaugh is still up in the air, but if he’s indeed a dead man coaching in San Francisco then the Miami Dolphins might come calling later on in the offseason.

Jim Harbaugh is in an interesting situation with the San Francisco 49ers as he’s taken them to three straight NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl berth but is unlikely to be welcomed back in 2015. Whether it be office politics at play or what have you, Harbaugh is likely to be out as 49ers head coach at the end of 2014 and other teams are starting to take notice.

What Harbaugh did in San Francisco is he took an alright team and made them into NFC title contenders in each of his seasons there. That’s something a lot of franchises would look past his behavior for to make sure they turn things around.

According to Albert Breer from NFL Network, the Miami Dolphins could be a team that makes a serious run at trying to hire Jim Harbaugh if he is indeed done with the 49ers.

"Just like Jon Gruden has been connected to the Raiders, expect Harbaugh to be continually linked to the Miami Dolphins, the team that aggressively pursued him and fell short of getting him in 2011. Owner Stephen Ross comes with deep pockets, and the contractual flexibility in-house to clear the decks for a new superstar coach to wield a boatload of power."

Right now, there is undying buzz about Harbaugh returning to his alma mater to coach the Michigan Wolverines. He loves the NFL though and could have just about any job in the league if it opened up, which means not only will Michigan have to wait but so too might Miami.
