Alabama Vs. Tennessee Final Score: Crimson Tide Survive Upset, 34-20

Alabama fans are miffed that the team  isn’t No. 1 in the country, but they almost had something else to be mad about as Tennessee gave the Tide a run for their money on Saturday night.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are used to getting what they want, but they have had a rough season with the new scheduling restrictions that put more weight on better opponents. It’s not that Alabama is a bad team, it’s just that they have had a harder time blowing out teams than they’re used to.

On a day when TCU put up 82 points on Texas Tech, Alabama escaped what could have been an ugly outcome against the Tennessee Volunteers. In the end, Alabama was able to notch the win 34-20 but it was a rougher y than anticipated.

Alabama should have expected a hard day, as Tennessee happens to loath Lane Kiffen, who was hired by Nick Saban this summer. Kiffen wanted the win and Volunteers fans wanted it more but only one side could come out ahead. It was Kiffen who walked away victorious but the Vols may have stunted some growth in Tuscaloosa.

With Ole Miss losing on Saturday night to LSU, the No. 3 spot in the AP Top 25 opened up. That’s likely to be earmarked for Alabama but the way the eeked out a win against Tennessee may hurt them.

Then again, Alabama did win by 14 points against an SEC rival, which could go a long way in pleasing voters when the polls are decided upon later this weekend.
