Griffin’s status for Monday’s game was always in serious doubt. In fact, Redskins coach Jay Gruden hinted earlier this week to the Washington Post that Griffin might not return until Week 11 when the team faces the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
"“I would think — I would guarantee Tampa, most likely, unless something happens between now and then,” Gruden said. “You’ve got a good bye week, you’ve got a couple weeks to make sure it’s ready. Obviously Robert is a quick healer. He works extremely hard in the training room. So the process could be sped up a little bit depending on how he feels."
Griffin has been out since Week 2 because of a dislocated ankle.
McCoy took over for an ineffective Kirk Cousins last week and helped the Redskins defeat the Tennessee Titans 19-17.
McCoy was 11-12 for 128 yards and a passing touchdown in the contest.
