Fantasy Football Waiver Wire 2014: Top 10 Week 9 pickups
Odell Beckham Jr.-WR-New York Giants (22.7%)
ODB Jr. is the top receiver who is widely available as the Giants come off their bye week. Beckham was the Giants top draft pick earlier this year and he’s been thrust into the lineup due to the season-ending injury to Victor Cruz. Beckham and the Giants are coming off their bye-week which should help the rookie after getting limited reps early in the season due to injury.
Beckham showed some of his upside in the three games he returned for before the Giants’ bye hauling in 10 of his 16 targets for a total of 106 yards for three touchdowns. His red zone usage is a great sign for his future fantasy potential, and he’ll only grow as a receiver as the season goes on.
Coming off their bye, Beckham and the Giants face the Colts who looked like a tough matchup before last week. Last week the Colts took on the Steelers who shredded them in Big Ben’s historic performance. Eli Manning will look to exploit those same weaknesses as the Giants attack Indy this week, and Beckham’s speed/hands combo will make him a key part to the Giants gameplan. Beckham gets the top receiver spot this week based on his long term upside and a very favorable schedule during the fantasy playoffs. Even if you don’t need an immediate fix at WR, he’s a great stash for the future.
