KDKA in Pittsburgh reports that James Williamson, Corey Ford, Jonathan Barlow, Rodney Gillin, and D’Andre Dunkley have all been arrested for aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, harassment, and conspiracy for their role in beating a man unconscious. All five are in Washington County Jail on $500,000 bond.
Unversity President Geraldine Jones issued a statement on the incident.
"“The police investigation is continuing, and the rights of these accused students will be upheld. But in light of these allegations, I asked Coach Kellar to cancel Saturday’s game. Behavior has consequences, and all Cal U students, including student-athletes, must abide by our Student Code of Conduct if they wish to remain a part of our campus community.”"
It’s unfortunate when an entire group of students and student-athletes must pay for the stupid actions of a few individuals, but the campus had little choice as the victim, identified as 30-year-old Lewis Campbell, was flown to the Allegheny General Hospital ICU with a severe brain injury.
Jones put the proper perspective on the issue in her statement, which concluded saying, “Our hearts and our prayers go out to the victim, his family and his friends. All else pales in comparison.”
