While the Georgia Bulldogs have been playing without both Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall over the past few weeks, they haven’t had an issue running the football. Nick Chubb has done an excellent job so far this year, and has made life much easier on the Georgia coaching staff. Marshall is nearing a return to the field from an ankle injury, but he won’t be coming back this week vs. Florida, according to a report from John Taylor of College Football Talk.
"No Todd Gurley and no Keith Marshall have been no problem for Georgia for quite a while. Saturday, it’ll be lather, rinse, repeat in UGA’s backfield for the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party."
There have been some rumblings that Gurley will return at some point in the near future, but until then Chubb will have the backfield under control. He has carried the football 99 times for 569 yards and five touchdowns on the season, which rounds out to an impressive 5.7 yards per carry.
Having Marshall back active will be nice for the Bulldogs’ depth, but they might not need him on the field much at all. He hasn’t seen a large role throughout his career for the most part outside of his freshman year where he gained 759 yards and eight touchdowns on 117 carries. There is no doubt that he has the talent to get out on the field and play, but Georgia simply has more talented players than him
All of that being said, he will not be available this weekend in Georgia’s SEC rivalry game against the Gators. It will be a very fun game to watch, and both teams will be bringing a bit extra to the table. Marshall will have to wait at least one more week before he has an opportunity to play.
