A since-deleted tweet by FOX Sports MLB analyst Gabe Kapler seems to indicate Kapler has been approached by new Los Angeles Dodgers president Andrew Friedman about a front office job.

Los Angeles Dodgers president Andrew Friedman has never been afraid to look outside the usual suspects when finding front office talent, and if a deleted tweet is to be believed, he’s contacted FOX Sports analyst (and former MLB player) Gabe Kapler about a front office job with the Dodgers.

Take this tweet with a grain of salt, as there isn’t a whole lot of confirmed information to work off of, and this tweet has edited out the phone number of ESPN reporter Jerry Crasnick, as it’s a picture of a DM sent by Crasnick to Kapler. Kapler quickly deleted the tweet, but y’know, nothing is ever really deleted from the Internet:

Kapler does have a history with Friedman, as he played with the Tampa Bay Rays, Friedman’s former team, during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, and both Friedman and former Joe Maddon thought highly of Kapler.

He’s also done some tremendous work with FOX Sports and Baseball Prospectus since retiring, particularly on athletes and nutrition.

In a lot of ways, it’s hard not to feel for Kapler here; Twitter isn’t particularly hard to use, but the ease of use and instant nature of the service can often lead to honest accidents being seen by the entire world.

It’s not clear just what Kapler would do with the Dodgers, although there are several possibilities, including potentially being the team’s manager in the future, but it’s also not clear just how advanced this talk between Friedman and Kapler was; it could have simply been Friedman gauging Kapler’s interest down the line.

But it’s certainly something to keep an eye on as the offseason progresses.
